About me
I am an accredited Counsellor with over 20 years experience of working with clients, with a range of psychological and emotional issues affecting their mental health and wellbeing. This experience has been gained in the NHS, private practice and in a local low cost counselling service.
I am provide a safe, non judgemental, confidential space for to you to talk freely, be heard and valued for being you.
I recognise that accessing help can in itself feel scary; I am here to help and genuinely want to help you overcome any difficulties you may have and grow in your awareness of yourself and maximise your wellbeing.
I work with adults who may been experiencing a range of emotional and behavioural problems eg anxiety, depression, OCD, BDD, low self esteem, addictive behaviour or feeling sad. These problems are often associated with trauma or eating disorders, which is an area of specific interest to me.
I offer an integrative therapeutic approach to counselling, which draws on my training, experience and skills of Transactional Analysis psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
Having recently completed Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) training and I am now a member of the EMDR Association UK. EMDR is recognised as being particularly helpful in treating trauma and is a NICE recommended treatment for trauma.
I offer either short, or longer term counselling/therapy with young people 16+ and adults, working collaboratively to identify the areas that are troubling or worrying you, agreeing the areas you wish to focus in your sessions.
Using a variety of skilled therapeutic interventions, I aim to help you to develop ways for you to view yourself, the world and others in ways which are more helpful to you; and move forward with your life in way that offers you more opportunity to be spontaneous, and awareness and intimacy.

Further information
Whilst you may be familiar with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, you may be unfamiliar with Transactional Analysis and Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprogramming (EMDR).
TA is model of psychotherapy which was developed in the US in the 1960s and quickly became popular in the UK and across the world. TA, can be best described, as a theory of personality and relationships based on a study of specific ego states, a theory of social interaction or interpersonal communication and system of group and /or personal growth and personal change. TA incorporates elements of Cognitive and Behavioural therapy. Hence I believe both modalities compliment one another, and was one of the reason why when I decided to do further psychotherapy training I choose TA. In addition I use EMDR which is a specific modality approved by NICE for the treatment of trauma specifically PTSD.
