Layla Adams MBACP (reg), Dip Couns, BSc (Hons)
As a qualified and BACP registered counsellor I will provide you with a safe, non-judgmental, confidential environment where together we can explore issues that are impacting on your life. I can help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationships as well as explore problems in your life and identify changes that you may want to make.
I work with adults, couples and young people (age 13 and over) from counselling rooms in Hinckley. I offer face-to-face counselling during both the evening and daytime.
There are many reasons why you may be thinking about having one-to-one counselling, this may be a life event that has caused you anxiety, depression or other emotional distress. Everyone will have their own unique reason for coming to counselling and therefore I will provide a space to explore your thoughts and feelings.
Relationship counselling is for all couples, regardless of whether you are married, cohabiting or living apart. Couples may from time to time experience relationship issues which impact on their emotional well being. These can be external factors such as work stress or something that is happening within the relationship such as communication issues or an affair. I will give you space to express what is happening for each of you and explore ways that you may want to make changes to help your relationship develop. Relationship counselling can help you gain a deeper understanding of each other and develop communication habits that allow you to express your thoughts to each other.
Young people face many challenges as they grow up and this can be especially difficult once they become teenagers. Issues such as school stress, bullying and relationships with friends and family can have a huge impact on a young person's emotional and mental health. At times like these young people may find it difficult to talk to friends or family about their feelings and counselling for young people can give them a safe, confidential space to explore what is happening.
Over the years I have gained experience in working with a broad range of issues and client groups. I have developed a special interest in working with clients that have issues with self-esteem or self-image. The way we view ourselves is developed throughout our lives and experiences such as abuse, bullying or illness can have a huge effect on the way we see ourselves. Low self-esteem and problems with personal identity can impact all aspects of an individual's life, including work, school, friendships and relationships. Working with individuals to overcome these issues has become one of my passions.
However, what my experience has taught me most is that everyone and every situation is individual and therefore each person needs an individual approach that suits them and their situation and that is what I aim to provide.
As a registered member of the BACP I work within their ethical framework. I regularly undertake Continued Professional Development and have regular supervision to enhance my practice. I hold professional indemnity insurance and have an enhanced DBS certificate.
