About me
Therapy is not always about feeling better initially, but a great deal about getting better at feeling. I can help my clients to work with their emotions by helping them to develop cognitive, emotional and behavioural strategies in a non-judgemental and empathic atmosphere. I am committed to helping my clients help themselves by exploring their psychological problems and empowering them to make changes for themselves.
I practice as a rational-emotive and cognitive behaviour therapist accredited with the BABCP and the Association for Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy. I am qualified in Eye-Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR) which can be helpful for processing traumatic events. I am experienced in working with a wide range of emotional issues including depression, anxiety (including social, panic, obsessive-compulsive disorder and phobias), low self-esteem, self-harm and eating disorders.
If you are thinking of accessing some cognitive behaviour therapy and would like to get in touch, please do call or email me and we can arrange a short initial phone call to answer any questions you may have about CBT and how we might work together.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a BSc in Psychology and a MSc in Rational-Emotive and Cognitive Behaviour therapy. I have worked in the private mental health sector for 8 years and the charity sector for the past 5 years. I have worked with corporate companies also and engaged in some work more recently with King’s college London helping individuals manage pain who are diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. I have recognition with a small number of insurance companies.
I enjoy working with my clients in a number of evidence-informed ways. These include using a combination of mindfulness techniques, to improve emotional regulation, distress tolerance and interpersonal skills informed by Marsha Linehan’s work. I also employ techniques and theory derived from Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT) and have been qualified as an EMDR (eye-movement desensitisation and reprocessing therapy) practitioner since 2021 which informs my practice helping people cope with and process trauma.
