About me

Why therapy?

Throughout life, we inevitably encounter difficulties that overwhelm us and stifle our growth. The pressures of life - e.g., work, bereavement, finances, relationships, family - can trigger negative internal voices, low self-esteem, upsetting emotions, and unfulfilling relationships with others. Therapy can help identify the root of our issues and develop a healthier relationship with ourselves and others.

My approach

I am a registered psychotherapist and a trainee psychologist in my final training year. This means that I have extensive experience supporting people from all backgrounds, with mild to severe mental health issues.

I appreciate that starting therapy can be a daunting experience for many, so I provide an empowering and understanding space for you to ease into the process and begin to work through challenging feelings and experiences. I’ll work with you to explore why you may be experiencing difficulties and identify how to implement healthier ways of coping.

I adopt a holistic, compassionate and non-judgmental approach, appreciating the uniqueness of every individual and the need for you to feel safe and heard. I am trained in a variety of therapy models as I believe a one-size-fits-all approach is ineffective. I offer both short and long-term therapy to suit your individual needs.

I currently offer online sessions only.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an integrative psychotherapist registered with the BACP (British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists).

I am formally trained in the following therapies:

  • Psychodynamic psychotherapy: to answer the question of why you are experiencing difficulties, by exploring how your past manifests in your present.
  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT): to identify how to cope better via challenging unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviors.
  • Person-centered therapy: to connect to your innate wisdom and actualizing tendencies, via building a compassionate and non-judgmental therapeutic relationship.

This means I can pull from a range of evidence-based methods and theories, resulting in a bespoke and unique approach suited to your individual needs.

I have extensive experience working with people from all walks of life in NHS services, charities, and private therapy services.

I am in the final stages of doctorate training as a Counselling Psychologist, eligible for HCPC accreditation.

Specialist expertise:

  • Adults experiencing anxiety and low self-esteem.
  • Relationship and attachment issues.
  • Identity-related issues (including race, gender, sexuality, disability, religion, and culture).
  • Depression and mood-related issues.
  • Work-related stress and burnout.
  • Dealing with significant life events (e.g., moving country, bereavement, becoming a parent).

I work within the BACP ethical framework, meaning I am required to have regular continued professional development. This ensures that I am able to provide you with a high level of care and expertise.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

What's next?

Initial phone call

It can be helpful to ask questions over the phone before having a first session. It's also a great way to break the ice. Therefore, I offer a free initial 15-minute phone call to discuss how we may work together.

We can see if our availability matches and find a date/time that suits you. We can also briefly discuss any goals you may have for therapy.

Assessment/introduction session

Granted the phone call indicates that we are a good fit, we will then have an assessment/introduction session. This session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We will explore what has brought you to therapy and how I can help.  We can discuss any hopes and preferences you may have for therapy, as well as how many sessions might be helpful. There is no obligation to continue after this assessment/introduction session or throughout our work together.

If you are ready to start your therapy journey, I would love to hear from you.
