About me

Counselling can be a daunting prospect for some people and I would like to take the time to tell you a little more about how I work:

I offer an initial, reduced-fee, 30 minute session where I will meet you in the therapy room and the time can be used to cover the reasons you feel counselling might help you. We can look at the counselling agreement and see what goals you would like to achieve. After this session, you are free to choose if you would like to start building a therapeutic relationship together. There is no obligation for any further sessions with me and I am happy to recommend other appropriate services if you feel this isn't the right path for you.

I aim to promote a non-judgemental, empathic counselling experience in a warm and private environment. I am qualified, registered and insured with experience of working with trauma, anxiety and depression, low self esteem, anger, childhood trauma as well as other difficulties you may be experiencing.

If you decide you would like to start working together, I aim to put you at the heart of what we do. I do not presume to know what is best for you and I have no desire to advise you on the "best way to be". I believe strongly that you hold the answers to your difficulties and will work with you to find these. I aim to provide a safe space for you to explore the things that mean something to you and to support you in finding your best way to live.

I currently work with organisations who support adults and young people in crisis. I have worked with CARA (a sexual abuse and violence charity) since November 2017 and Open Door (a youth counselling charity) since November 2018. I am experienced in working with adults and young people (15+) using mainly talking therapies and have worked using play therapy with young children (5+).
