Laura Wells, Counsellor - Fd Couns, Reg.MBACP.
Hello I'm Laura, welcome to my profile.
Acknowledging your need for a counsellor can be quite a step, particularly as many of us value our ability to work things out for ourselves. However, sometimes thoughts and feelings can feel challenging and overwhelming. Life experiences may need support processing and it can be a relief when we do not have to face these difficulties alone.
Conversations with a trained therapist can help us to break out of ourselves, the stories that we retell, our dramas and fears. Helping you to increase awareness, find new perspectives, ways of coping, relieve discomfort and move forward.
I aim to support you and work with you on areas that you would like to understand and change, so that you can lead a more fulfilling life. Improving the way in which you relate to yourself, others and the world.
My private practice is in Cherry Orchard Lane off the A 36 (Wilton Road) and within easy walking distance of Salisbury train station. Free parking is available.

To book an initial session, please email Laura at email@example.com. I aim to respond to all emails and messages as soon as possible and within 48 hours.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a registered and qualified counsellor working relationally, using a Transactional Analysis approach to my work. This means that I pay attention to the conscious, non-conscious communication between us to give me some understanding of your relationship patterns with others. Bringing these unconscious patterns to the surface can be transformational.
My experience includes (but not exclusively) working with: anxiety, stress, depression, loss, low-self esteem, relational trauma, anger and relationship difficulties.
Alongside working privately, I have practices for 2 years at a Wiltshire charity that provides low cost counselling to adults.
For the last 16 years I have extensive experience of working in public and charitable organisations that support vulnerable young people and adults with diverse and complex needs (addiction, trauma, abuse, unpaid carers, domestic violence, mental health issues, disability and long term health concerns).
I have an enhanced DBS Certificate for adult and children. I hold full Professional Liability Insurance provided by Towergate Professionals and undergo regular supervision with a fully qualified supervisor. At my work I abide by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy's Ethical Framework, who are ready to confirm my membership.
- Degree in Humanistic Counselling based on Transactional Analysis (BACP accredited) - Distinction (Middlesex University)
- Level 3 Diploma in Humanistic counselling
- Transactional Analysis 101
- Certificate of Higher Education in Health and Social Care (The Open University)
- Certificate of Higher Education in Social Sciences (The Open University)
I make a regular commitment to my continuing professional development, whether it is reading, podcasts, attending online or experiential training, in areas such as:
Anger and Rage, Trauma and Recovery, Working with Depression, Working with Anxiety, Grief and Loss, Understanding Shame, Treating Chronic Shame, Online and Telephone Counselling, Emotional Regulation, Polyvagal Theory, Disassociation, Neuroscience, Therapy and Integration of the Body, Eating Disorder Masterclass, Counselling and the Autistic Spectrum
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
