Laura Rutlidge MNCS ( Senior Accred)
There are times in life when things can feel out of control. You might be struggling with anger or anxiety issues. You may have suffered trauma or you might not be sure what is wrong but you are keenly aware of it. It is at these points in life that counselling might be able to help.
I am an experienced and compassionate counsellor, with several years' NHS experience and in Private Practice. I work hard to provide a welcoming, safe and confidential environment where you can explore your concerns
Counselling is about helping you understand and deal with your concerns, and you will likely gain increased self-awareness. Clients completing therapy often report feeling more fulfilled, happier and confident about themselves and their future.
Just as we invest in our physical and material needs, I believe that investing in the emotional, psychological and spiritual aspects of our lives is always valuable, productive and worth doing.
I have worked with many different concerns such as abuse, anger, anxiety and depression, loss, compulsions and phobias along with issues of complicated grief and bereavement, bullying, non-medical sexual problems, postnatal depression, low self-esteem/self-confidence, self-harm, suicide, Post-Traumatic Stress, PTSD and any past or recent trauma.
I have diplomas in Counselling and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, along with a degree in counselling psychology; which means that I can integrate my work to best suit your needs.
If you would like to make an appointment or to have an initial chat to find out if counselling with me is for you, please contact me on 07833 694 357 or 0151 920 0257.
Training, qualifications & experience
I qualified firstly as a Person-Centred counsellor then completed a second diploma in Cognitive behavioural Therapy.
I worked within the NHS for a number of years prior to opening my private practice. During that time I completed further training in Mindfulness for both CBT and Person Centred Practice, Transactional Analysis, Psychosexual issues, domestic abuse and self-harm.
For my work with young people and children, I have trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for children, sand-tray therapy, which can be used for both adults and children, and Creative Play for children and teenagers.
More recently I have furthered my knowledge by completing an Open University degree in Counselling and Psychology, and a BSc (Hons) with emphasis on PTSD. I am currently studying an MSc course in Psychological Trauma at Chester University.
I regularly take part in furthering my knowledge and have recently attended conferences and training courses regarding children at risk, suicide prevention, self-harm and domestic abuse.
