About me
I am an accredited member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) which is the lead organisation for cognitive and behavioural therapies in the UK and Ireland. To be accredited, I have applied and demonstrated that I meet high standards of training and experience in CBT.
I offer a non-judgemental and warm, confidential space where we can explore the challenges you have been facing together. CBT is a recognised therapy for treating many psychological difficulties with an aim of empowering you to be your own therapist by overcoming and understanding difficult thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
The first few sessions would involve exploring what has brought you to therapy and how these difficulties impact your daily life. We will work together towards a shared understanding of what you wish to change in therapy.
Finding the right therapist can be a long and daunting experience, I would be happy to have a call with you to discuss any concerns or questions you might have before starting off. It can be helpful to see if we are the right fit for each other with no pressure, prior to committing to your therapy journey.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have over 6 years of experience working within secure and community mental health settings working with mild to severe mental illnesses. I am currently based within a trauma service within the NHS where I work full time. I am now providing therapy online and in-person therapy during the evenings.
I obtained my PGdip in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy more recently and have been offering CBT since 2021. Prior to that I obtained a BSc (Hons) in Applied Psychology in 2018 and have worked within a range of settings allowing me experience working with differing presentations of mental health difficulties and illnesses.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The BABCP is the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the UK. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the practice, theory or development of CBT. BABCP also provides accreditation for CBT therapists. BABCP accredited members adhere to the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics in the Practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, and are willing to be scrutinised in this adherence as required.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
