About me

Welcome and Hello

I am an Accredited (BACP) Integrative counsellor and Clinical Supervisor with 9+ years of experience in supporting adults through their life span. Being Integrative means I can draw on different counselling approaches such as CBT, Person Centred and Psychodynamic which allows us to tailor therapy based on your needs. I have delivered counselling within the Voluntary Sector, Hostels and Comminity Setting with experience in working with Anxiety, Depression, Low Self Esteem, Homelessness and Family and Relationship Issues.

How Counselling can Help

Counselling offers you a supportive safe space to explore issues that may be overwhelming and distressing while empowering you to make informed decisions. The idea of change can be daunting, however, I will support and guide you during your personal journey. My aim is to help you work towards your personal goals by working collaboratively with you in finding solutions to any issues that are preventing you from living your life in the way you would like. I have vast experience of guiding clients with difficulties including anxiety, stress, relationship difficulties, bereavement/ loss, self-harm and life changes. Finding the right therapist for you is essential for counselling to be effective. That's why I offer a free fifteen minute consultation, where you can ask questions about the counselling process and see if we would be the right fit for each other. Following this, we can discuss availability for booking an initial session and ongoing sessions (50 minutes).

I am available for counsellors who are seeking personal therapy. I have completed the CPCAB Level 6 Theraputic Supervision. My supervision profile can be found on the BACP website via https://www.bacp.co.uk/supervisors/380186/laura-heatley/belfast-bt10?

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
