Laura Greene MBACP, DIP COUNS, B.A (Hons)
I am an experienced counsellor, psychotherapist and hypnotherapist working with adults, children and adolescents, offering individual, couple and child counselling. I have worked in various areas of therapy over the past ten years. I am also a tutor for a level 4 counselling diploma in Medway.
My private practice is located in Kingshill, West- Malling, in a building complex that is visited for various reasons, so no one would know the reason for attending, with free onsite parking. I also do home visits for clients that are unable to travel within the local area.
My approach to therapy is warm, supportive and non- judgemental, where I aim to build a real supportive relationship, that promotes open self- exploration, or development, at your pace. I work in a way to accommodate what you need from a therapist, for example, you may be looking for a supportive, safe relationship, to explore past experiences or process trauma, to finally be free of the past, or you may be looking for positive direction, or coping strategies, or you may not yet know. I can help you identify areas that need change, or help you to find the strength to move towards the life you would like to live, by overcoming blocks or fears. I will help you to make the changes you want to lead a more fulfilling life, whatever that means to you.
I specialise in working with anxiety, relationship issues, anger and self- esteem. However, I have trained in various areas. Please contact me to see how I can help your specific needs.
I work with children from three years old, through to adulthood. I have experience working with complex emotional difficulties in children, to self- esteem and friendship issues. I also work with children who have a diagnosis of ASD, ADHD and ODD, as well as children with a low mood, anxiety, or having experienced past trauma.
A parent consultation is required for children under 12, to discuss your child's needs before my initial session with your child. I also require signed parental consent for anyone under 18 years old. Any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
Training, qualifications & experience
After completing my BA honours degree in Criminology and Applied Psychology, I went on to study a Level 4 BACP accredited course at Life- Force School of Counselling in Colchester (awarded gold book standards training). This course ran over four years, where I achieved a level 4 Diploma. I undertook placements during my training working for Mind, a hospice and supporting people with autism.
On completion of the course I worked two years as a bereavement counsellor and also worked in a young offenders prison, working with rehabilitation. I then went on to work alongside social services, supporting families to process past trauma and make the necessary changes to improve their lives, working with presenting issues such as anger management, depression and anxiety, mental health, loss and bereavement and relationship difficulties. I also worked during this time one day a week as a school counsellor, for a well- known organisation, offering play therapy to children aged 4 to 11 years old.
I also worked for a different organisation, that offered counselling services to Primary and Secondary schools across Kent. I now only work privately, from my office, but also in schools and businesses locally, offering both short and long- term work for individuals, groups and workshops. This allows a bespoke package to be offered to schools and business that meets their individual requirements and offers a personal service, but also means services can be provided at a cheaper rate, by avoiding third party costs.
