About me

Sometimes understanding why we feel a certain way and identifying ways that we can make changes can feel daunting and overwhelming. Having somebody impartial to speak with is a useful way to work through some of these things. As a therapist, I offer a warm, safe and confidential space in which to begin this process. The relationship between you and I is an essential part of therapy and this will be co-created between us as our work together unfolds. You are the 'expert' of your own experiences and I will honour and respect this.

What you can expect

When you first make contact with me, we will identify a time that is convenient for us to speak over the telephone for a free, no obligation conversation about how I might be able to help you understand your difficulties

After this, we will arrange our first face to face meeting where we can start to unpick your experiences and what is happening for you emotionally. It is also an opportunity for us to gain a sense of each other and be sure that we would like to work together. It is important that you find the right therapist for you.

Following this, we will start to work together. Typically, clients request weekly sessions and these would be arranged at a time convenient for us both for as long as you are finding counselling useful. We will review our work together regularly to ensure that space is given to 'check in' and see how you feel about counselling.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained at The Sherwood Institute in Nottingham in Humanistic and Integrative counselling. This means that I believe that people are able to change and grow. I also incorporate a wide knowledge of different theories in to my practice based on how my clients prefer to work and how they would like therapy to help them. I believe that we are all unique and as such having an awareness of different theories and ways of working honors this.

I have experience of working with children and young people in educational settings and also in different community projects. I have also worked with adults in both my private practice and a bereavement service.

I am also accredited by the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) which means that I adhere to an ethical framework to ensure that clients best interests are at the core of how I work.
