Dr Kyriaki (Kyra) Monastiropoulou, BSC. (Hons), DCounsPsy, CPsychol, AFBPs
925 Green Lanes
Hello, my name is Kyriaki but I like to be called Kyra. I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist with 8 years of experience in the UK. I am registered with the British Psychological Society (License 261550) and with the Health & Care Professions Council (License PYL29100).
I have a small practice in Winchmore Hill where I invite you for the first appointment. I start with 1 hour free assessment during which we will try to make sense of what you are going through and how you can move forward.
The pace of the assessment is based on you. I am not in a hurry as I like listening carefully to you and paying attention to your life story. You will also have the opportunity and the time to ask me questions about the process and my practice.
On completion of the assessment, I'll share my thoughts with you and together we will decide if you want to commence therapy with me or not. If you are not sure, you can go home and let me know when you are ready. We will then arrange a regular appointment.
The therapy process will be individually tailored to meet your needs. I use an integrative approach combing traditional psychology with more holistic approaches such as meditations that they have been proved to be really helpful for other clients.
If you are interested in, contact me on the above information.
I speak both English and Greek and therefore I provide therapy in both languages.
Training, qualifications & experience
Now a little bit about me:
I have worked in the NHS (National Health System of England) and in charities offering individual and group therapy both short-term and long-term to children, adolescents, and working adults experiencing depression, anxiety, stress, emotional difficulties, relationship problems etc. I have conducted cognitive, developmental and mental health assessment for both adults and young people.
I have studied for three years to obtain a BSc (Hons) in Counselling & Psychological Science. I then completed a Graduate Conversion Diploma in Psychology that enabled me to apply for the Doctorate in Counselling Psychology (DCounsPsych) which I completed successfully.
I have completed additional training in Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Family intervention for Psychosis (FI), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Counselling for bereavement and loss, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Mindfulness.
Over the years and my work with people, I have developed an interest in the healing power of nature, the body-mind relationship, and how our psychological and emotional states greatly influence the onset and passage of illness, as well as our ability to heal. Hence, an interest in your own physical health will be given, if appropriate.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
