About me

I value individual differences, honesty, integrity, finding your own path, standing out from the crowd, connection and relationship. I strongly believe people can be empowered to find their own answers. I know that I am not a fixer and I don't have all the answers, although I might have a suggestion or two. I know that I am ok to sit with people in chaos. I can tolerate stuckness and I am not afraid to be afraid, nor walk into a dark place.

My aim as a therapist is to create a space where you can explore your difficulties, develop an understanding of where and how these difficulties arise to enable you to find ways to make improvements. This can involve thinking about how you view yourself, your relationship with others and how to make positive changes to move forward. I practice on a one to one basis offering you a safe non-judgmental and supportive environment. I provide the opportunity for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviour to identify core issues which may be causing you stress.

I am an Integrative Psychotherapist who works with clear ethical boundaries. I am an accredited member for UK Council and Psychotherapy (UKCP) and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). I work with individuals on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period, with the aim of enabling you to enhance your life, realize your true self and live it more fully. I am also a part 1&2 qualified EMDR therapist who has years of experience working holistically with clients who have experienced trauma.

If you decide to have counselling, the first step would be to arrange and appointment by telephone or email. This initial meeting is very important so you can discuss your particular concerns and what you would like from therapy.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
