About me

I offer a friendly, non-judgmental, safe environment for you to explore worries and any issues that you may want to talk about together.

My aim

My aim, as a counsellor, is to walk alongside you, as you develop your self-awareness and reconnect with your belief in yourself, discovering new positive ways of being ‘you’ and making choices in your life, with which you are happy and comfortable with.

I focus some of my work around loss and bereavement. Loss comes in many forms including bereavement, loss of self, loss of job, motivation, feeling lonely, life changes and many other areas of life where something may just not feel right for you at the moment.  You may have also had a significant difficult bereavement, and counselling can be a safe place to work through this.

What I offer

I offer a confidential space where you are able to explore your important worries in your own way, and at your own pace. Whatever personal challenge you are facing, I will be here to listen and to support you. I focus on understanding your life experiences from your own unique individual viewpoint. I will respect your choices and decisions, and if it is important to you, then it is important to me too.

Appointments

I offer flexible appointments including daytime, as well as some evening and weekends, as I understand life can be hectic and sometimes, we need therapy to be flexible and fit in with our busy lives too.  I offer appointments to suit you, and I am here to support you in your times of need.

My Background and Counselling Experience

I am a qualified person-centred therapist and a registered member of the BACP. This helps me ensure that the Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling & Psychotherapy guides my practice. I attend regular and on-going supervision / consultative support for my work in accordance with professional requirements and to ensure that I am working with you to the very best of my ability.

A small selection of what clients have brought, and which I have worked successfully with are:

Depression, anxiety, panic attacks

Infertility, baby loss, IVF, miscarriage

Life changes; job, retirement, life after loss

Relationship issues; affairs, divorce, separation

Work issues, work life balance

Struggles around skin and body changes, including pigmentation

Self-image / Self-worth; feelings of loss of self-identity

Isolation / loneliness and sadness; including anxiety and depression.

I hold full Professional Indemnity insurance and an enhanced CRB Disclosure Certificate.  I continue to work towards further training and education to update my practice and skills.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
