About me
Hello, my name is Kirsty, I am a BABCP-accredited and insured Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT). I am also currently studying a BACP-accredited Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy course at university.
I am passionate about providing therapy to individuals struggling with mental health difficulties, such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and/or with those looking for a confidential space to share what is on their mind. I consider it a privilege to support clients on their journey towards reaching their goals/ achieving positive change.
How therapy can help:
Therapy is not about 'fixing' individuals, but instead empowering clients to become their own therapists to help them achieve their goals, overcome barriers, and improve their overall quality of life.
I utilise an integrative approach - CBT offers evidence-based techniques, and is a solution focused 'here and now' treatment, and whilst this is great for some, it doesn't work for everyone. Taking that into consideration, I think it can be helpful to also provide clients with the opportunity to share more of their story, before delving into practical tasks and techniques, which is where person-centred counselling comes in.
What to expect in your first session:
During your first session, I will ask you some questions to get to know you better and understand what brings you to therapy. Together we will look at the therapy contract; this outlines what we can expect from each other during the treatment process. We will work collaboratively to develop a treatment plan (if necessary) that meets your unique needs and goals. Throughout treatment we will monitor check-in and adapt goals/sessions, if needed. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
Availability:
I offer individual remote therapy UK-wide. I have flexibility during the week, so please do get in touch.
