A bit about me:
Hi, I'm Kirsty and I'm a BACP Accredited Psychological Therapist providing confidential online sessions. I’ve been working with clients for over 12 years and in mental health for 15 years. I'm a recognised provider for AXA PPP, AVIVA & Vitality Health insurance providers.
For me, the starting point for therapy is the therapeutic relationship, I can offer you a safe, non judgmental and empathic confidential space for you to begin to unpack whatever it is you want to work on. I understand it's really hard to seek out help, but by talking that first step and making contact, you are on the right road to making changes in your life.
Therapy can give you the space to begin to connect to painful feelings and safely process them, and can also give you the space to vocalise how you are feeling. Therapy can assist in helping you to feel more equipped to make any changes you'd like to make in your life.
People seek out therapy for lots of different reasons, be it feelings of anxiety or low mood, relationship issues, grief, stress, or a lack of direction to name a few. I'm happy to work in a short term way with you, and also longer term, this depends on the life issues you are bringing. I've got experience in working in both ways.
I have really varied therapeutic experiences and have worked in various universities with young people, specialist sexual trauma services within the NHS, a GP surgery, general psychiatric settings and various employee assistance programmes. I'm also a mentor at Glasgow University supporting students who have mental health issues. I have experience in working with people at lots of different stages in their life.
In the first session we will spend some time talking about what has brought you to therapy, and perhaps about what you'd like to gain from sessions, and if you've any goals. I like to check in every few sessions to ensure you're getting what you want from your sessions.
Ways of working
I can use a variety of different approaches that can help you to understand the difficulties you are experiencing in your life. We will work together to decide what therapeutic approach is best for you, we often require different things at different points in our lives and might use a combination of these. Having a starting point of a safe and non-judgemental relationship can help us to connect with our feelings, and can help us to safely process how we truly feel.
Person Centred Therapy
Person centred therapy provides you with a safe and non judgmental relationship, allowing you to freely express your emotions and feelings, and to bring them closer to your awareness. This can enable you to come to terms with feelings, and to begin to develop inner resources and different ways of coping. Person centred counselling can provide you with time and space to help you to begin to come to terms with the loss of a loved one.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) helps you to recognise that negative thinking patterns can have an affect on how we feel and how we behave. The aim of therapy is to help you to challenge these negative thought patterns and behaviours. Overall, CBT aims to try and help you to work through negative thinking patterns to allow a more realistic way of viewing situations leading to more satisfying relationships with your self and others.

Sessions are goal focused and action based, and can help provide you with the space to bring clarity on how you would like your life to be. Outwith counselling I work with flowers, I really enjoy working this & being in nature. I also trained in reiki level 1& 2.

Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

I offer a free telephone conversation before the first session to ensure best fit.
£60 per 1 hour counselling session.
£60 per 1 hour telephone counselling session
For every 6 sessions block booking you receive 10% off.
Cancellation charges to apply if the session is cancelled less with than 48 hours notice.
