About me

I am a Child, Young Person & Family Psychodynamic Psychotherapist specialising in offering individual sessions to children, adolescents, and young adults up to the age of 25.

I aim to offer a non-judgemental and young person-centred space, which supports young people to explore their emotional world in a safe and creative way. In order to better understand themselves and what might be underlying their difficulties.

I can support children and young people with a wide range of difficulties and client backgrounds, including behavioural difficulties, neuro-divergence, speech and language difficulties, children who are looked after and post-adoption.

I also offer clinical supervision to other therapists.

I can offer short or long-term sessions and will be led by your needs. I currently can offer sessions on a Monday afternoon and evening.

Please contact me if you would like to discuss this further:

Training, qualifications & experience

I am accredited with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) and am a member of the Tavistock Society of Psychotherapists (TSP).

I originally trained as a Music Therapist and am accredited with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) and British Association of Music Therapists (BAMT)

I have nearly 20 years’ experience working as a therapist in a variety of settings, including schools, alternative provisions, and the NHS. I am currently employed as a Senior Psychotherapist in the NHS, working with children and adolescents.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BPC
British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC)

The British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) is a professional association, representing the profession of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.

The organisation is itself made up of fourteen member organisations and BPC accredits the trainings of its member organisations. An individual who qualifies from one of these trainings is then eligible for entry into the BPC's register.

BPC registrants are governed by a code of ethics, a policy of continuing professional development, a statement on confidentiality and a complaints procedure. The BPC is a Member Society of the European Federation for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in the Public Sector (EFPP). Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

British Psychoanalytic Council
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

Once we have spoken, we can arrange an online meeting to discuss your hopes for your/ your child's therapy. It is also a good opportunity to meet with you/your child, to see that we will be a good fit.

Sessions are offered weekly at the same time and last 50 minutes. I have a range of creative materials available, to support engagement in the sessions, in a playful way. Play is a safe way for children to express their emotional worlds.

After 6 sessions, we can review and see that we all share the same goals.

Materials and approach can be adapted to the age of the child/young person/young adult.

For young people and young adults - a more verbal approach, using psycho-education and strategies can support.
