About me

Hi I'm Kiren and I understand how daunting it can be to acknowledge you need a little help and to then find and approach a counsellor.   You are almost certain to have some questions, such as:  How will the counselling work?  Are there any expectations of me?  Do I feel that I will be comfortable enough to really speak openly with this person?

That's why I offer a free (no obligation) 20 minute telephone chat so that we can get to know one another and I can answer any questions you have before you make a decision on whether you feel we would work well together.  Just email me and we will arrange a time and date.

About Me

So that you know a little about me before you reach out - I am a qualified Person-centred counsellor, registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), hold an advanced certificate in online counselling and am a professional member of ACTO (The Association for Counselling and Therapy Online).  I work with a range of issues such as anxiety, depression, feelings of low self worth, trust difficulties, family issues and feelings of anger and hopelessness.  Sometimes people just feel sad and want some time and space to talk through why they feel that way.   It's not always easy to talk to friends or family and I understand that.  My  counselling experience includes working with survivors of abuse and people who have had difficult childhood experiences.

How can counselling help?

I believe that we are all striving in some way to be the best version of ourselves but that sometimes things happen that make that difficult for us.  Talking through how we feel and the circumstances that have brought us to this point can be useful in helping us to identify why we feel this way and how we need to grow in order to become happier versions of ourselves.

How I work

I work online via Zoom and by telephone (you are free to choose whichever method you prefer) with UK-based adults over 18.

For sessions that you have booked I will telephone you at the mutually-agreed time, or email you a Zoom link half an hour before we meet online.

I am fully insured and work within the BACP Ethical Framework and the ACTO competences.

Contact me by email to book a free, no obligation 20 minute telephone chat.

Training, qualifications & experience

Training and Qualifications

I hold a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and an Advanced Certificate in online counselling, am a Registered Member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and a Professional Member of ACTO (Association for Counselling and Therapy Online).   I am also a trained mother-daughter relationship coach.

How we will work together

I work with all sorts of issues and across all adult age ranges.  My goal is to help you to work through the issues you are bringing so that you can find a way forward and see your situation more clearly.  As a person centred counsellor I aim to work in an empathic and compassionate way in order to help you to appreciate and understand yourself better, and to relieve any inner negative chatter and constant questioning that can sometimes live within us.  We can explore the situations that are difficult for you right now, and the steps you may want to take to lead a happier and more fulfilling life going forward.  You may hold long-term beliefs or life experiences that are holding you back, and you might want to explore these and how they affect your life now.

I have experience of working with people coming to terms with traumatic life events such as domestic or historical abuse as well as those suffering from anxiety, insecurity, negative thoughts, depression and numbed or heightened emotions.  I also work with people who are trying to understand their relationships, or who have difficulty in trusting themselves or others, or who have a need to feel or regain control or balance in their lives.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
