Philosophy
It is the relationship that creates the environment for the client to make changes within their lives – I see myself as the facilitator not adviser. I also believe that it takes an enormous amount of courage for clients to come to counselling, I always remember to acknowledge and respect each client as a unique person.

Training
To become a Counsellor was a journey for me in my own personal growth and development, I have made discoveries about myself and been open to the process of learning and to understand myself and to enable in turn, to help my clients.  I am aware of my own processes and in turn of others, I make choices about my processes and change them if they do not fit the situation. I have changed the way I view life and endeavour to live an honest and more congruent existence in the world.

The therapeutic relationship
Facilitates the healing process and that ultimately with my support and facilitation,  clients can discover for themselves, the answers to questions that they may bring to the counsellor.

Practice
I work across several modalities an Integrated Counsellor as it can be helpful to call on other methods and interventions and I am confident and happy to do so if the situation arises within that relationship. I believe that Counselling should be tailored to the clients individual needs.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
