About me

Hello My name is Kim and I deliver Face to Face counselling and on line counselling to individuals, couples, and families. I have over 18 years experience many of which were working with Relate and have had a Private Counselling Practice for a number of years. I am trained to MA standard in relationship counselling and also a Relate Certified Counsellor. I am trained to work with neurodivergent clients. I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and work within their Ethical Framework. .

I offer a safe confidential space in which you can talk about your worries and difficulties. You may find you are experiencing anxiety, fear, anger, depression sadness or confusion. Many situations and experiences can cause us to feel any of the above emotions and you may benefit from a place to explore and reflect on how and why you are feeling and behaving in certain ways. Counselling, either as an individual a couple or a family can help you work through the issues and ultimately find a way of moving forward to a more comfortable space.

The counselling can help to explore conflicts and general issues that arise for people as they evolve or can help others to reflect on how things were dealt with in the past. The ways in which people respond now often have links to previous relationships or experiences  and this is an area where counselling can help. Exploring, and learning to understand how and why they may behave, respond and feel the way they do can often go a long way in working out how they might want to move forward with any given issue.

People can often struggle with major changes in their lives such as divorce, separation, becoming parents, illness, redundancy, bereavement, retirement etc. and talking this through with a professional counsellor means you can explore and hopefully find the best ways for you to cope with any changes and / or crisis.

People occasionally struggle with many mental health issues such and anxiety, depression, low mood, panic attacks etc. which impact at great deal on their own lives and often the lives of their family and friends. Talking to a counsellor can help you get to the root of those issues and help to finds ways to work through them. I have experience in working with people on the Autistic spectrum as well as ADHD and understand that being on these spectrum can create additional challenges as daily life can become overwhelming and highly stressful.

My counselling sessions offer a safe and private environment to talk through issues in complete confidentiality.

By coming for an initial consultation you are not committing to anything further but it could just give you a taste of how good it feels to talk to someone who is happy to listen and able to empathise with your situation and concerns.

Training, qualifications & experience

Master of Arts (Relationship Therapy).

Marital and Couple counselling Theory and Practice.

I have worked with Relate as a counsellor for over 15 Years. As such I have worked face to face with individuals, couples, families.

I am trained to work with neurodivergent clients.

My work incorporates primarily systemic and psychodynamic ideas. This way of working means I try to look at everything that influences families and individuals in their lives. This may involve their past experiences and memories as well as the situations they find themselves in today. Having a good understanding of difference and diversity means I try to work out what things are important and influence them in their lives and help them to establish what change is possible.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
