Kim Stacey Counsellor MBACP (Accred.) and EMDR Therapist (Accred.)
Perhaps you are thinking about counselling because you are feeling sad, depressed or anxious? Perhaps you are struggling to find meaning, or feel that something is missing in your life? Perhaps you have had experiences from your past that you find hard to move on from, or traumas that continue to haunt you? Perhaps you are finding relationships with others difficult and questioning what is going wrong? Working with me will give you the opportunity to explore your thoughts and feelings and experiences.
I can offer you a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space to begin to unravel the difficulties you are dealing with. My role will be to listen and work to understand how life is for you. Together we can explore and perhaps help you find new ways of seeing yourself and of feeling about your past, present and future life.
My aim is to work in a compassionate and thoughtful way, but will also challenge you to understand yourself more clearly, and to consider choices and options for moving on or doing things differently. A key aspect of my work is to offer a relational and collaborative approach.
I am an integrativerelational counsellor with a broad, and thorough, range of training and experience in working with the problems we can all face. I take my professional development and learning seriously and continue to undertake regular training to develop my knowledge and understanding of effective therapeutic practise. I will always work to try and meet the needs of you as an individual. My main priority is to offer you a relationship where you will feel listened to in a non-judgmental way, and safe to talk about your struggles and concerns.
I am also an accredited EMDR practitioner. This is an approved NHS therapy for working with PTSD and trauma experience. You may find you are still stuck with disturbing memories of certain events or find you experience panic or flashback feelings that impact on your life now. EMDR is an effective therapy for working with these experiences.
I am also trained in and experienced at working with mindfulness, NLP and visualisation techniques, that can be very helpful in bringing about personal change.
I am accredited by the national counselling organisation BACP and I have fifteen years experience, working with a wide variety of issues that people bring to counselling. I adhere to the BACP ethical framework in my practise.
Coming to counselling can be daunting, I can meet with you for an initial 30 minutes just to see if working together feels right for us both and to explore more of what you might work on.
As a Supervisor i will be offering you a space to reflect on your work with clients and will help you consider both relationship and process as part of this work. I will also offer advice and guidance in line with the BACP ethical framework.

Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
