Kim Rowlands Counsellor (BSc, MSc, MBACP)
* Please note, at this time, I am able to offer sessions via Skype, Zoom or Phone. Please contact me for a chat about how we can best work together *
Hi, my name is Kim and I am a qualified Counsellor. At times, life can be difficult, and it takes courage to reach out. I can offer a safe, non-judgmental and confidential space for you to explore your experiences, and to gain understanding and clarity. I value individual differences and I believe that people can be empowered to find their own path. I offer a flexible and integrative approach drawing on different techniques and strategies to help you manage personal challenges, take steps towards your goals, and move forwards towards acceptance.
Whether you are feeling distressed, low, anxious, stuck, or perhaps you are looking for a positive change in your life; it can be good to talk to someone impartial who can listen without judgement. Counselling is your time to work through what you feel you need, and at your own pace. Counselling gives you the space to explore your past and present, and allows you to begin developing the tools you need for the future.
I have a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology, and a background in Psychology and Neuroscience. I am a Registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework and also hold my own professional indemnity insurance.
My experience includes Counselling within an IAPT service for Adults with Depression, working with Adults with Disabilities, as a Life-Coach supporting adults experiencing homelessness and drug misuse, as well as working within an education setting and providing personalised support for those attending university.
What to Expect in Your First Session
I believe that you should be at the centre of our work together, and that the sessions should suit your needs, so I offer a free twenty minute initial consultation and an introduction to Counselling at a reduced rate.
This will be an opportunity for us to explore what working together might be like, and will help us gain focus for our sessions moving forward.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
