About me

I am a BACP Registered Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist experienced in working with a wide range of clients and a variety of issues.

I understand that making the decision to come for counselling can be daunting, and appreciate that choosing a therapist can be a difficult process.  While training and experience are important considerations, crucial to the therapy is the quality of the therapeutic relationship that you develop with your counsellor - so finding the right counsellor is really important.

I offer you the opportunity to explore your concerns in a way that you often cannot do, or don’t want to, with family and friends. You will be given the space to gain new insights into your difficulties and how you manage them, enabling you to consider what changes you wish to make. I recognise that therapy can be a painful process, but through open dialogue we can explore together possibilities that will lead to greater emotional well-being, increasingly satisfying relationships and a more fulfilling life.

I provide both longer term, open ended counselling and also short term, solution focussed counselling, depending on the issues you’d like to explore. I see both men and women of any culture, race, religion or sexual orientation.

The initial assessment will help us identify whether counselling is the best way forward for you and whether I am the right counsellor for you. My commitment to you is to provide weekly counselling in a respectful, non-judgemental, safe and confidential environment.

My core training is in psychodynamic counselling. Using this approach we would explore together how past experiences may be impacting on your present difficulties. I am mindful that certain counselling styles suit some people more than others. I use an integrative approach to therapy, drawing from a range of counselling models to provide the best support for your specific needs.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
