About me
About Kim at Art of Stress Recovery
Hello and welcome. For over 25 years, I have worked with women to treat stress-induced illnesses and conditions, anxiety, depression and trauma.
Driven by my own 'lived' experience and the impact of changing hormonal health due to natural biological changes and the way stress impacts hormonal balance and wellbeing and the impact it has on the mind and body. Anxiety, depression, brain fog, fatigue, chronic pain can be part of the mix.
Added to significant fluctuating female hormones, the ADHD brain structure and chemical messaging such as the dopamine 'highways' can all be significantly affected, which in turn makes executive functioning extremely difficult.
Symptoms from these stressors affect the body, thoughts, feelings, and behaviour.
Which in turn can lead to low self-esteem, low self-confidence and family and relationship issues.
Trauma and pain from stressful events can build upon existing symptoms, diminishing our body’s tolerance for stress management.
If left untreated, these symptoms can lead to conditions such as chronic pain, panic attacks, and/or depression, as well as negative habits and behaviours such as addiction or low self-esteem.
If the stress becomes chronic, it can result in the individual having physical symptoms that are consistent with Chronic pain, Chronic Fatigue, M.E., Fibromyalgia, migraines, IBS.
These chronic conditions are at times also referred to as tension myositis syndrome (TMS), psychosomatic disorder, or mindbody symptoms or stress induced disorders.
As someone who has experienced my own journey through stress-induced chronic illness and pain, I am passionate about helping and educating others on these types of symptoms.
As an Integrative Counsellor, I approach therapy through an individualized, holistic approach that is tailored to your specific needs. I am qualified in EMDR, EFT, psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, reiki, wellbeing coaching, and yoga, therapeutic and trauma based somatic practices and draw on a selection of therapy models to provide you with the best care.
Together, in a confidential, non-judgmental, and safe environment, we will uncover the root of your issues, soothe the overactive nervous system, and build a network of accountability and support to set you on the path to recovery.
Using my unique blend of stress and anxiety therapies, sessions are as relaxed and informal as they are impactful.

Additional Areas of Counselling
High Sensitivity
If light, noise, and highly charged situations make you feel depleted, then there is a possibility that your personality may have traits of 'the highly sensitive person'. This is where an individual is hyper aware of changes in their environment. It is not a mental health condition, but may lead on to feelings of overwhelm, anxiety and depression.
Negative Habits
The Art of Wellbeing works in a unique way to create a holistic package of care that supports overall health. Together we will look at the underlying cause to your habit(s), whether that is over-eating, drinking too much alcohol or smoking.
Weight Management/Weight Loss
On average, people who chronically suffer from stress have an average weight gain of over 30lbs. There are solutions available that do not involve surgery but will convince your mind and body that surgery has happened anyway. Explore these and other treatment options available.
