I am committed to my clients wellbeing and have a proactive but empathic approach. I want you to feel better! Operating in Derby, Nottingham and Burton.
I am a Msc qualified integrative psychotherapist, who uses person centred therapy, C.B.T and attachment theory in combination to address client problems. I treat a wide range of issues from anxiety, health anxiety, depression, loss (bereavement and divorce), through to anger, abuse and rape counselling.
Training, qualifications & experience
- MSc in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy
- Margot Levison award (University of Derby).
- Person Centred therapy.
- Experience of schema (life trap) work.
- Compassionate Focussed Therapy.
After working in peer to peer support, I became a ‘first responder’ for the International Straight Spouse network in 2010, offering telephone and email support, and participating in group work. My clinical experience includes a wide range of issues including anxiety, health anxiety, depression, loss (bereavement and divorce), anger, abuse and rape. Through the RNIB I have worked with visually impaired clients in their own homes.
I have previous personal experience of depression and anxiety which I have addressed by working successfully with my own insecure attachment style. I have used this to inform my practice. I have almost unique insight into the issues faced by people who’s partners ‘come out’ as gay or transgender.
My wide range of life experience including marriage, divorce, redundancy, single parenthood and bereavement helps me to understand the needs of others. (I've been there!).
I have appeared on the BBC radio Women’s Hour programme and on BBC2's Victoria Derbyshire programme.
