Kevin Spruce BA (Hons) Psy; MSc Couns. Psy; MRes Soc-Psy (converted to PhD)
Welcome to Cheshire Therapy Services and Veterans Counselling Services. Due to the present issues with COVID19 all counselling is via telephone, WhatsApp and Skype...the decision has been made for the safety of clients and to reduce the spreading of COVID19. Stay safe one and all.
My name is Kevin Spruce and I am a qualified registered accredited counsellor and I offer a warm, safe and confidential environment to discuss your needs. The first session includes assessing your needs, and what type of therapy would suit you best. Person Centred Counselling is a way for you to get back in touch with yourself. Many of us in life lose sight of who we really are due to childhood and external influences. Many of us feel confused about our identity due to major (or minor) traumas that we have experienced, and many of us hide away those traumas in deepest recesses of our minds.
I offer you a peaceful place where you can talk about the things that you want to, issues that may be difficult to discuss with your loved ones, or significant others.
The expert in my counselling room is you, as you know where you have been, where you are, and where you want to be. I will engage with you from your frame of reference (the way you see the world). I will be empathic, offer you unconditional positive regard and I will be congruent. I offer unconditional positive regard, empathy and congruence.
My experience of dealing with difficult and complicated issues has been developed over decades of academic research and practical experience.
My experiential background has been developed in the back drop of my experiences as a War Veteran, a Practicing Accredited Therapist, and a Lecturer of Psychology and Counselling Psychology.
My expertise on military matters led to me being invited to be an Academic Military Advisor to Lord Ashcroft's Veteran's Transition Review 2014.
This gives me a firm foundation in theory and practice. My approach will enable you to find your 'real' self, and to become more empowered and more content with yourself and your life.
My professional memberships include:
- British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)
- BACP Children and Young People (BACP (CYP))
- British Psychological Society (BPS)
- Association of Life Coaches (ALC)
- British Sociological Association (BSA)
It is an inevitable part of everyone's life to experience certain situations in which we feel overwhelmed and mostly unable to cope. I offer counselling in following areas:
- Stress in relation to self isolation
- Employment Issues
- Substance Misuse
- Bereavement and Loss
- Exam Stress
- Sexual Abuse

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
