About me

Welcome, I’m Kertrina a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor currently offering both short and long term therapy.

Life can be exhausting and difficult sometimes. We can find ourselves feeling isolated and alone while we struggle to find understanding and solutions.

Many things may be occurring,
relationship problems, depression, anxiety, lifestyle changes or many others that can make it difficult to know where to start. Sometimes it can be hard to talk to those close to us, and this is where I can support you.

Entering into therapy can be a difficult decision; you may have feelings of uncertainty and confusion about whether therapy is for you.

Counselling is a relationship built on trust that will develop with time, it is important for you to find a counsellor you feel comfortable with. Our first session will give us opportunity to discuss your expectations, and establish if counselling is right for you and most importantly if we both feel we can work together. I aim to provide affordable one to one counselling either short or long term. I work in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental counselling practice either face to face, using secure online video therapy sessions or by telephone.

I regularly attend CPD (continued professional development) training and workshops to keep my skills up to date and learn of new developments. I am UKCP accredited (UK Council for Psychotherapy) and a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy). I hold full professional indemnity insurance. I attend regular supervision to ensure I am practicing ethically and safely to UKCP and BACP standards.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

UKCP

UK Council for Psychotherapy

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accessibility

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
