Hi, I'm Kerry Kirwan. I'm an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (BABCP). I have a small private practice overlooking Victoria Park in central Leicester where I will work with you in a warm and collaborative way to make the changes that you would like to see in your life. Together we will gain an understanding and insight into your problems and use our sessions to help you make changes using a CBT approach. I also use compassion-focused therapy and mindfulness practice where useful as I see time and time again that developing self-compassion is very helpful in overcoming a lot of the difficulties that I work with.
I first started working in mental health in 2001. I've worked in the NHS and universities since 2011 with people struggling with stress, depression and anxiety disorders. I am very passionate about how CBT strategies recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) can be put into practice to help alleviate psychological (and physical) distress.
If you have hit a point in your life where you've found yourself feeing overwhelmed and stressed or depressed, or you suspect you might have an anxiety related problem such as panic, procrastination, OCD, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), or just feel that you are struggling to live the life you hoped to, then please do get in touch with me to find out more about how I work and to see whether CBT might be useful to you.
