About me
Hello and a warm welcome to my profile.
If you're here, it means you're thinking about committing to therapy. This is the first step towards taking care of yourself. Whether you'd like support with a recent issue or have long-standing concerns that require attention, we can work together to make sense of what's troubling you. Through joint exploration and talking things through, you will begin to understand yourself better, discover the changes you'd like to make and navigate these with renewed strength and resilience. By engaging in therapy, you can feel more connected to yourself and, in turn, those around you, which leads to a more authentic, meaningful and fulfilling life.
We're all unique so when working together I will draw on a range of therapeutic perspectives that will best support you, but at the heart of my approach is to facilitate a sense of collaboration, and a relationship built on mutual trust, which will enable you to safely explore challenges, and then begin to move forward.
Training, qualifications & experience
Primary qualifications:
- Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy - Leeds Beckett University
- Certificate in Counselling Studies - Doncaster College
- BSc (Hons) Health and Sports Studies - University of Huddersfield
For almost two decades I've supported individuals to make health related behaviour change, both directly or via programme development and coordination, within the NHS, private sector and Local Authority. My clinical work experience includes providing in-person counselling and psychotherapy for victims of domestic abuse, sexual violence and childhood sexual abuse, including pre-trial therapy, as well as supporting individuals affected by bereavement. Alongside trauma and grief, I've worked with a wide range of life issues, such as difficulties in relationships, depression, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, shame, loneliness, isolation and a general sense of being stuck.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
To gain the most from counselling and psychotherapy it's important that you choose a therapist you have confidence in and feel at ease with. If you'd like to take that first step, I invite you to contact me so that we can arrange a no fee 15-minute telephone or video call to look at our potential for working together. This will provide us both the opportunity to ask questions and consider moving towards step two - booking an assessment session and defining our work together.
