About me

Hi,

Firstly, thank you for taking the time to reach out and look at my profile.

I'm Kelly, I'm nearly 50 years old and I have been a psychotherapist/counsellor for over 12 years now.

(Currently I am only offering supervision sessions for other professional counsellors and psychotherapists).

Prior to being a counsellor I worked in education for over 20 years. I have worked with all different ages of children starting from the age of three. This includes infant, junior and secondary schools. I have worked with pupils, staff, parents, families, other professional individuals involved with SEN, LAC, behavioural schools and multiagency professionals.

I use a lot of creative methods in my work, not just with children but with adults too. Sand work, bibliotherapy, mask work, clay, paints plus many more as well as offering talk therapy.

I work with whatever the psychotherapist/counsellor/teacher brings to the session. Exploring individual caseloads, discussing challenging behaviours, transference/countertransference, triggering emotions and thoughts, self awareness, professionalism and spiritual growth but to name a few. Whatever topic that you wish to discuss is met with an empathic and understanding way of being. No problem is too big to too small!

I work in an honest, empathic, kind and open way and I am here to both challenge and support you as a supervisor.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have an honours degree in counselling studies, predominantly using a person centred approach to my work but also include other counselling methods too. This enables me to work in a more integrated way when working with clients and other professionals.

I have my own private practice where I work from home, counselling clients and offering supervision. My counselling and supervision practice is called "Emerging Together," you can find the link in my bio for my website.

I offer a friendly, caring and professional service that offers 1:1 therapy sessions for all individuals as well as supervision.

I qualified as a supervisor in 2020 and offer supervision to student counsellors, qualified counsellors/psychotherapists, teachers and non teaching staff. I can see teaching staff either in school or within my office space if you are local to the Grimsby area.

Sessions for non local counsellors can be carried out by teams or face time.

Local counsellors have the option to meet with me in my office space or over teams/FaceTime.

As your supervisor I will offer a safe and empathic space for you to reflect and provide guidance as and when needed.

I follow the BACP ethical frame work and guidance on supervision.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

I have helped others with many challenging problems ranging from abuse, anger management, depression, self harm, work related issues, self esteem issues, child related issues, trauma, attachment loss and bereavement but to name a few.

I specialise in work around anxiety and I'm passionate about empowering others to overcome their own worries, stresses and anxieties. So much so that I created and published my first book (I Have a Super Power by Ted Kelly) with the hope it will enable parents, carers and teachers to help children with understanding anxiety and other challenging emotions, but also provide helpful strategies and open up communication.

I have previously worked as a bereavement counsellor for our local hospice. This included working with adults, children, families and other professionals. This work focused on loss and bereavement but other emerging themes were attachment, self awareness, self discovery and spirituality.
