Kelly-Anne Singleton MBACP, Dip Couns, BA Hons, (Reflection Counselling).
I'm Kelly-Anne. Welcome to Reflection Counselling. I can offer you a safe, confidential space where you will be listened to fully and warmly invited to work with me in whatever is causing you worry or concern.
My clients describe me as 'warm, approachable, down to earth and genuine' which I believe is the basis of a strong therapeutic relationship.
I work with Adults and Children covering a range of issues, specialising in Anxiety, low mood/ Depression and Autism/ADHD.
Life can really challenge us and sometimes it can be difficult to make any sense of it. Sometimes it can help having the chance to reflect, explore and talk to someone where you are completely heard. The space and time is yours. In contacting a Counsellor it might feel slightly nerve-wracking, not knowing what to expect, but I will do my utmost to help put your mind at rest and enable you to get the most from your therapy.
Although sometimes counselling can delve into areas that may be difficult to talk about or work with, my aim is for counselling to be a positive experience for you. I will work with you at your pace and by checking in with you I will ensure that you feel comfortable with the work we do.
How do I work?
We would usually meet first for an initial consultation online ( free and lasting 25/30 minutes), where I can explain how I work and answer any questions you may have. We will talk about what you would like to gain from the therapy and any particular areas you would like to focus on. After our initial, no obligation session, you can then decide whether you are happy to work with me and whether I am suitable to work with you.
I offer long term. short term and single session therapy.
I use various therapeutic approaches in order to adapt to you as an individual. Counselling doesn't have to be simply talking, there can be a variety of ways to express yourself and explore what's happening for you. My aim is for you to feel comfortable and able to express yourself in your own way.
What is the cost?
Initial consultation: Free ( 25/30 minutes)
Face to Face Session ( In my home or Nature/Walk and Talk Therapy: £50
Online Session: £45
Students training on l4 Diploma for Counselling: £40
I understand that sometimes the cost may not be affordable and this shouldn't be a barrier to seeking help, so please do discuss with me further to see what could be arranged as I do offer a few slots at a discounted rate or a block of sessions at a lower rate. ( Please note that these concessionary sessions will be online only at non-peak times).
Children and Young people
I specialise in Counselling Children and Young People 11-18. Having worked with children for 25 years in Teaching, running a Drama School for children with Disabilities and in my Counselling work, I specialise in Autism, having raised my own child with autism and many years working in this area. I also run a Home Tutoring Business ( KellyAnne-Home Tutoring) teaching children all over Dorset and now teaching online nationally.
I use: CBT for Children, art, role play, sand tray work, Visual boards, Bullet Journals, music, drama based therapy, games, mindfulness and meditation. All of these creative methods can be carried out online too. I adapt to what works well with your child as my main priority is that they feel comfortable and can be themselves.
I love working with Children and Young people and have learnt so much from all the individuals I've worked with over the years.
Where am I based?
I am based in Poole, Dorset. My sessions are either face to face (adhering to safety measures in accordance with government guidelines) or online via Zoom. I live in a quiet, discreet cul-de-sac with available on road parking and there are regular bus routes to this area of Poole.
My Counselling room (as shown in the photos) is described by clients as calm, quiet and relaxing. There is access to my counselling room via my back gate and therefore no need to walk through the house.
I also work online locally, nationally and internationally so this is particularly useful for clients who travel for work or who want the flexibility of being able to have their session anywhere they happen to be. It also may be suitable for clients who cannot attend face to face (F2F) sessions due to health reasons, socially distancing or feeling anxious about leaving their homes.
Online counselling has proven very successful and effective for clients in achieving the same therapeutic alliance as working face to face. Previous clients have reported how surprised they were at how much they liked working this way and how it was more convenient in fitting in with life's busy schedules. I offer this at a lower fee of £45 per 50 minute session.
Nature/Walk and Talk Therapy
I also offer 'Nature Therapy' or 'Walk and Talk' Therapy where you would gain the benefit of being outside in nature and can experience the well-being effects this can have on your mental health. This would be in a location such as Upton Country Park, Hamworthy Beach or somewhere nearby. We would walk, sit and pause, take in the view and try some calming strategies and let nature help provide you with it's positive benefits.
My background is in the Performing Arts- Drama and so I try to incorporate creative strategies, having seen how creative ways of working can have a powerful, therapeutic impact. We may use strategies linked to dramatherapy, art work, sandtray work, visualisations, dreamwork, clay modelling, drawing, music and mindfulness. Previous clients have said that they 'enjoyed exploring their feelings in an original and very personal way, that can be expressed in an art form, rather than through verbal interaction'.
There are a variety of different ways to work and you may want to try a mixture of different ways. However you want to work, we will work in the way that you choose and feel most comfortable.

MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
