Kelly-Anne Singleton MBACP, Dip Couns. ( Reflection Counselling)
Hello I'm Kelly-Anne. I warmly welcome you to Reflection Counselling.
My clients describe me as 'easy to talk to, warm, genuine and very approachable' which I believe is the basis of a good therapeutic relationship.
I work with a range of issues, specialising in anxiety and working with Young People and Adolescents (11-18).
Life can really test us and sometimes it can be difficult to make any sense of it. I have experienced my own challenges along the way but I have seen the benefit that counselling can give.
Simply having a place to talk, with no judgement and away from all the 'noise' of life can make an enormous difference to a person's life. A place that is quiet and offers you the chance to reflect, explore and talk to someone where you are completely heard. The space and time is yours.
I am passionate about helping others and love the diversity of people I work with.
How do I work?
I work in an Integrative way which means I draw on various approaches in order to adapt to you as an individual and provide you with a space where you feel safe, no judgement and provide you with confidentiality.
I can incorporate CBT strategies where appropriate or sometimes I may use creative ways to help you in your counselling sessions. But only if you are happy to do so. Ultimately I want you to feel comfortable and able to express yourself in your own way. I work in a way where you feel empowered, independent and are very much part of the process in exploring what's going on for you. Our counselling relationship is built on trust which can take time to build upon, so I work at a pace that feels right for you.
I regularly review our work together to check you are happy with the service I'm providing and to review any progress or areas to work on.
I adhere to the principles of the BACP Ethical Framework in order to provide you with the best service.
I can carry out single session therapy, a block of sessions or longer term therapy. I work in various venues across Dorset, (Broadstone and Westbourne) and have flexible hours to suit.
I would usually meet you first for an initial consultation where we discuss how I work, look at the contract and decide whether you are happy to work with me and whether I am suitable to work with you.
Children and Young people
I specialise in Counselling Children and Young People 11-18 , having worked for many years as a Teacher in Primary and Secondary, SEN specialist and running several businesses which focused on working with children and helping them achieve their goals.
I may use strategies such as: art, role play, and dramatherapy and will find creative ways to help children. I also can adapt to what works well with your child, so if they like a particular character, subject or hobby I may use this to help engage them in our work together. With younger children we may play some games to help build the trust so they feel ready to talk and if they struggle to express themselves verbally, there are other ways that we can achieve this.
I work in a child-friendly room which is calm, quiet and can help them feel relaxed.
