About me

Hi my name is Kellie and I am an experienced person-centred and CBT counsellor. I work with both adults and young people, helping to provide a positive, safe way forward.

I am also a clinical supervisor and offer face to face or on-line supervision, I am offering a FREE i hour session for you, this helps to see how I work and if I am suited to you

I offer therapists a safe space so we can work together and to make sure you are supported all the way. If you would like a chat, please feel free to give me a call and we can go from there.

life can at times being many challenges and it can get to a point where you may feel stuck or struggling to navigate your way through overwhelming situations. You may feel low, stressed or maybe angry but don’t know why, you could be finding life particularly demanding  and feelings of anxiety, sadness or worries may dominate your everyday life. No matter what the reason for theses feelings or the way in which they affect you. I aim to provide you with a safe, non-judgemental and confidential space to enable you to explore your issues and find a way forward.

As a work both person-centred and CBT way, my approach is versatile to accommodate your needs. You may just need someone to listen to you and some of you may need that extra help with learning to manage certain situations that are bringing you anxious thoughts.

Lets have a quick look at the approaches I work with

As a therapist I use the Person-Centred combined with CBT and by using the two theories together I have seen great success with clients.

Person-Centred therapy is about looking at a clients issues either past or present and whats going on with my client. With this information together we can explore the effects it has on you. The environment you will experience will be an non-judgemental approach and this will help you to feel you can be open with me. Over time you will be able to work out how to be the real you with confidence.

CBT is a brilliant way to help with anxiety , OCD, over thinking and many other issues you are experiencing. The theory focuses on challenging and changing behaviours you may have started doing and with theses pattens we repeat through ones life which can be unhealthy for us. Together we can improve emotional regulations and the development of coping strategies that targets solving the current or past issues and believe me this will change your life for the better!

I have my own cosy private practice where we are free from anyone overhearing us. Sessions can be face to face or on-line. On-line session are just as affective as face to face and you don't have to leave your home!

Feel free to email me with any questions. Thank you for reading and take care

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I help people with weight loose issue and who are struggling with where to start.  You are not alone, I get it because I  have been there and it was hard doing it on my own. within session  I can teach you about foods and we can work out what works best for each individual. we can also look  at the past to make sure this is not a reason why you struggle.

Some people suffer with binge eating and never feeling good enough and majority of the time this stems from our past and what others say about us. In therapy we can explore theses issues if you want to as I put no pressure on clients if they dont want to explore certain areas, this is your session.

Each client will be given a notebook, this is for record keeping, I can also add a few things so client can look over them out of the therapy room. And lets face it most of us love a good notebook!!

Further information

My approach to therapy is Person-Centred which is based on the theory that is non-directive. I will not tell you what to do, I believe that every individual has the potential and ability to make the right choices for themselves, regardless of my own values, beliefs and ideas.

I work to understand my clients experience from their point of view. I value my clients in all aspects of their humanity, while aiming to be open and real, helping a client to feel accepted and to better understand their own feelings. Over time a client will be able to reconnect with their inner values and a sense of self worth.
