About me

I am an experienced, qualified psychotherapist working with diverse clients of all ages (over 16+) & from many different backgrounds and offer discrete & confidential counselling.

For my first profession I worked in the music & entertainment industry, both in the UK & USA . I worked independently being involved with developing and working directly with many creative individuals who were often also highly successful global performers, artists, writers and producers & I bring this experience & specialty to my counselling work.

I offer sessions for both short-term (usually about 6-12 sessions) and longer term work. I can offer sessions to suit outside working hours and Saturday mornings located in either Central London or online.

For clients that travel frequently I often work in a combination of face to face & online.

How I work

The focus of the work will be to explore the concerns and issues you may have in a confidential environment.  The work will be collaborative with the aim to help you understand more about who you are, who you want to be and how to express that.

While we each carry our own hopes and expectations, sometimes our lives can feel empty and/or confusing, and we may struggle to find a clear sense of direction. Counselling can be a big part of our growth and discovering the right approach to our own life; our relationship with ourself, relationships' with others & with our personal & working environments.

The first session allows me to find out what is going on for you, and assess with you your goals how many sessions you may require and whether we are a good fit to work together (this can sometimes take more than one session).

I normally like to have an initial phone conversation with you, without commitment or fee payable, during which we will be able to discuss how I can help you & I can answer any initial questions you may have.

I am interested in working with individuals who work in the creative fields eg: musicians artists, actors, writers

Prior to psychotherapy training, I have worked for many years in the music & entertainment industry, both in the UK & USA working directly with highly creative & often very successful global artists.

Creative individuals can often struggle with an intense connection with their emotions that allows them to connect with a wide audience but in accessing this personal creative expression, combined with commercial demands can become overwhelming, adding to any difficulties that may also be part of their story.

I find my experience and knowledge of this area to be very helpful when working in a therapeutic relationship. Our own self expression is a fundamental aspect of who we are whether it is something that is part of our professional lives or not.

Psychotherapy should feel supportive but also challenging to enable your life to take on a different course and meaning. In our work together we will identify any negative patterns and work on ways that can open your life to new possibilities.

I also spent 3 years working as a senior volunteer for the Samaritans in New York City and I have worked as an honorary counsellor for 3 years at a large NHS GP Surgery in London. I have also worked as counsellor at a charity centre assisting female ex-offenders.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
