About me

Thank you for visiting my profile, I am a fully qualified and experienced Counsellor, Psychotherapist, Supervisor and a Teaching and Supervising Transactional Analyst with over 20 years experience. I work with individuals and couples, offering a confidential setting with regular appointments which help to create an atmosphere of trust in which self awareness, healing and change can occur.

i appreciate that for most people, seeking help from a counsellor or therapist can be anxiety making. With that in mind I am happy to speak with you on the phone if you have any questions to help you decide whether you would like to make an initial appointment.

I run a practice in Usk and Cardiff.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a UKCP Registered Psychotherapist, experienced in helping people with a wide range of issues, seeing clients from between 1 and 3 times a week. I work with a time focussed model (short term counselling ) or open-ended (longer term therapy).

I am a UKCP Supervisor, Teaching & Supervising Transactional Analyst (TSTA) and a BACP Senior Accredited Supervisor and offer clinical supervision to Counsellors, Psychotherapists and other health care professionals. I have undertaken further study in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic therapy.

Psychotherapy or counselling can help you with various difficulties in your life including working through deep seated negative patterns of relationships, emotional and sexual difficulties.

Therapy can result in you experiencing more fulfilment in work, family and other relationships.

I am Programme Leader for the MSc in Humanistic Psychotherapy and BSc in Humanistic Counselling at the Metanoia Institute. I am also an academic tutor and supervisor for various modalities including: Transactional Analysis, Integrative Arts based and Humanistic. As a Teaching and Supervising Transactional Analyst, I can offer accredited supervision and training to TA trainees and graduates.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

UKCP

UK Council for Psychotherapy

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited register membership

UK Council for Psychotherapy

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I appreciate our culturally diverse society and have a deep interest and experience in working with people from minority groups, in particular those who suffer oppression and discrimination.
