I work with people with anxiety, stress, depression, sexual problems, relationship and family issues. I also see people who lack confidence, post traumatic stress disorder, separation and sexuality issues. I do not charge for the initial session.
Bereavement, bullying, phobias, anger management and addictions can also be helped by psychotherapy.
I see people for both short term counselling and long term psychotherapy. I am trained as a Chartered Counselling Psychologist and a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist. I am registered with several private insurers.
I also supervise trainees from various organisations.
Training, qualifications & experience
I trained with the British Association of Psychotherapists, and am registered with the British Psychological Society, the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy and the Health and Care Professions Council.
I am a member of the Forum of Independent Psychotherapists.
I initially trained as a Psychologist and did a PhD on "Maternal Depression during Pregnancy and after Childbirth". It was my experience of talking in depth to troubled mothers that made me decide to train as a psychotherapist at the BAP. I knew from my research that JUST TALKING TO SOMEONE really does help alleviate depression.
I trained as a Freudian, but see myself as a "Mongrel". The individual client is much more relevant to me than a particular theory. I do believe however, that past experiences can colour our present lives in an extremely negative way and that children develop defences that are used in adulthood long past their "sell-by" date. To me, my little room is a safe place where people can share their present and earlier experiences and eventually let go of some of the resentments and fears that spoil their lives.
SUPERVISION WITH TRAINEES:
As well as enjoying working with clients I do love working with trainees. Currently I see people training as Counsellors at WPF and also students from various universities doing the BPS Chartered Counselling Psychology Course.
WHERE I WORK:
I work from my home in Muswell Hill. There are numerous free parking slots in the street and buses, servicing Bounds Green Tube Station and Muswell Hill Shopping Centre, stop close by.
