About me

Hi there, I'm Katrina. I understand that we are going through a particularly stressful time and as safety is of utmost importance, I am working exclusively online.

"I was struggling with a lot of things and felt very overwhelmed. Katrina was warm, understanding and had great insight into why I was feeling the way I was. I felt so comfortable from the get go we built a strong level of trust, and that has let me open up in ways I previously haven’t wanted to. I really like the way Katrina gives me so many helpful tools and coping mechanisms taken from different therapy models depending on what the current conversation or situation calls for".  [Client Testimonial 2020]

How Counselling Can Help:

There are times when we all need support.

Sometimes, it helps to air our issues with an objective and trained individual who can help to see things from a different angle.

Sometimes we need space and time to think things through or sometimes, things can get a little overwhelming and seeking support to get through it, can be helpful.

We Listen:

Sometimes, being listened to and being seen can in itself be healing; I am here to listen and provide a pressure free space for you.

How I work and How it May Benefit You:
As an Integrative Counsellor/Psychotherapist we look at your current situation or symptom and if open to it, explore childhood/early life experience to connect to root cause or issue that is bothering you. Often, long buried thoughts and feelings bubble up, sometimes unexpectedly and may cause anxiety disorder and or depression - shining a light on these can be enormously insightful as to how we live today, how we approach relationships and establish negative patterns.

As therapy is not linear, I believe in adopting a creative and flexible approach. Together we can discuss the best approach for you.

Options Available to you:

I offer short and longer term/open ended term counselling and introduce long term strategies to better cope with what life brings. My sessions are weekly, ideally at the same time, with regular reviews.

Either way, it will be a collaborative and I hope an energising and enriching experience.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Testimonials from people I have worked with:

Since our first meeting, Katrina has helped me develop ways to manage my stress and make sure I’m not too hard on myself. As for the relationships in my life, Katrina has sensitively helped me see why those around me may be acting and feeling the way they do, whilst also reassuring me that all my feelings are justified and acceptable. She carefully has helped me work through a range of emotions and struggles since we first met and I’ve been rewarded by seeing how much better I deal with everyday problems since I first started my sessions.

~~~~~
From our first phone call consultation, Katrina has been so perceptive, kind and encouraging. I almost couldn’t believe how quickly she ‘got’ me. I felt in very safe and extremely qualified hands from the first moments, as Katrina understood what it was I was looking to gain almost immediately. Natural conversation, in a calm and comforting atmosphere, taps into moments I want to discuss regarding family, friends, my emotions, my experiences, and ultimately this leads into something Katrina helps me work through and understand. With her incredibly vast knowledge in the field, my jumbled outpouring in our first session has been broken down as I have been helped to understand how and why I have felt how I have felt. We also discuss techniques and exercises to implement when the feelings I experience bubble up, which has been such a help. I can’t imagine working with anyone else and each week I find myself feeling more at peace.
~~~~~

Katrina has really helped me navigate through recent challenging and anxious situations at work, and I have found my sessions with her always leave me feeling calmer, stronger and reassured.  Her empathetic ear, kind demeanour and extensive professional experience mean she not only listens and understands, but is able to provide me with a renewed sense of confidence and guide me to feeling empowered taking my next professional steps. I couldn’t recommend talking with her highly enough. Her down to earth and friendly approach to therapy means I found building trust in our sessions came naturally and quickly, which I value tremendously, and I continue to look forward to my weekly sessions with her - five years and still going strong!
