About me
Hello, I'm Katinka and I offer Art Therapy/Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). I put my heart and soul into my work, and aspire to form a genuine human connection with each person that I see. I want to help you heal from past hurt, create more joy and meaning in your life, and get more energy for the things that matter to you. I adapt my approach and style of working according to your unique needs and preferences. I am experienced in working with adults, adolescents and children from all walks of life. I provide a welcoming and safe space for you to focus on your healing and wellbeing.
I offer in-person sessions in a garden studio in North Somerset, online video calls, and 'walk and talk' or outdoor sessions in nature. Weekly or fortnightly sessions are available.
I understand how difficult it can be to reach out for support and find the right therapist for you. I offer a free 15-minute telephone or video call consultation, so you can get a feel for whether we would work well together. You are also welcome to contact me via email to ask further questions about the therapies I offer.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am trained and registered as both an Art Psychotherapist and CBT Therapist, accredited with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) and BABCP (British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists).
I have supported people with a range of difficulties including grief, PTSD, low mood/depression, social anxiety, low self-esteem, BDD, body-focused repetitive behaviours, OCD, and other anxiety related difficulties. I have worked in NHS talking therapy services, cancer care, young people's mental health services, schools, and care homes.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The BABCP is the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the UK. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the practice, theory or development of CBT. BABCP also provides accreditation for CBT therapists. BABCP accredited members adhere to the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics in the Practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, and are willing to be scrutinised in this adherence as required.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
When we experience difficulties with our mental health, it is a sign that something inside of us needs attention and care. During therapy, we work together as a team to provide this time and space to explore what's going on and try out new ways to address it.
If you are unsure about the different types of therapy - here is a quick introduction to CBT and Art Therapy:
CBT provides practical tools and information to give you a better understanding of the things you struggle with and learn helpful strategies to support you in achieving your goals. The aim of CBT is for you to 'become your own therapist' as you learn skills to be able to tackle future difficulties as they arise.
Art Therapy invites you to use creative materials or methods to deepen self-awareness, manage difficult emotions, and discover new ways of being and seeing things, particularly when words alone are not enough. There are many different ways of bringing creativity into therapy and you do not need any experience in artmaking.
