About me

If you’ve arrived here, you're most likely contemplating some kind of change in your life. You might have decided that you can’t carry on as you are, or you may be curious to find out more about yourself. I hope I can help you with either.

I am an Integrative Relational Supervisor, Counsellor and Psychotherapist working near Braintree & Chelmsford in Essex. I am committed to offering my clients a confidential, supportive and non-judgemental environment in which to work through whatever is challenging them. Over the years I have experienced how counselling and psychotherapy can help deliver real life changes.

I begin my work with each person from a framework informed by the idea of Trauma and Recovery. I start in this way because I trust this framework to be a holding, ethical and compassionate way of working. Instead of asking "What's wrong with you?" we will work together to explore how what has happened in your past could still be affecting the way in which you're living life today. I am a member of The Relational School of Psychotherapy as both my professional experience and current psychological research confirms the relationship between therapist and client to be the defining factor in successful psychotherapy and counselling.

I am an EMDR Therapist currently finishing my training with an accredited European EMDR organisation. I am offering EMDR Therapy at a reduced rate of 80GBP per 90 minutes during my accreditation period. Please get in touch for further information.

I offer short term psychotherapy, which can be 6 to 12 sessions and I also offer open ended psychotherapy, exploring the underlying issues behind present concerns at greater depth.

I practice and teach Mindfulness and other aspects of Trauma Informed Yoga which I include within a therapy session when appropriate.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
