About me

I'm an Accredited  Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and Member of the BACP working with both individuals and couples in a long term or short term way, depending on what feels best for the client.

We can all have times when life feels just too much and our problems can feel too big to deal with on our own.  It can be difficult to talk about these things with those closest to us for fear of upsetting others or feeling judged or misunderstood.  This is where talking with a counsellor can help and just having the space to explore things can make all the difference.  Areas that counselling can help with are depression or low mood, stress, anxiety, bereavement and loss, relationship difficulties, sexual problems, trauma such as rape or abuse, eating disorders and many more.

I welcome a wide range of issues and offer a professional yet comfortable space for difficulties to be worked through in a confidential, non-judgemental and respectful way.  This may involve looking at unresolved issues from the past and how this is affecting you now or it may be coping with the stresses of managing life on a day to day basis.  You may not even know why you feel like you do, you just know you want to do something about it and this is the first step to recovery.

As a counsellor I aim to offer a safe and confidential place for you to talk, be heard and be able to explore the different thoughts, feelings and emotions that might be coming up for you, whatever they might be.  This can lead to greater understanding, insight and acceptance of what might be going on enabling you to continue with life in a more manageable way, whatever that may mean for you.

As a couple you may have difficulty in your relationship with communication, letting the other person know how you feel and identifying your own needs and getting those needs met. An affair may have happened or there may be sexual problems which can be difficult to even acknowledge, much less talk about. That's where I can help to give you a place to talk about these things and help you as a couple to talk to each other in a more honest, respectful and loving way, whilst being able to identify what each individual wants and needs and how this can be met within the relationship. It may also be that the relationship is not fulfilling those needs any more and you need help and guidance with how to go about making changes, which may include ending the relationship and finding ways of doing this in a less destructive way.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
