K L Aspden (Louisa) ...... MBACP(Snr.Accred)
The most important goal of therapy is to help people live more fulfilling lives. The telling of our stories, and the honouring of our experiences can help us move on from our difficulties.
As an experienced Person Centred counsellor with Senior Accreditation (BACP), I offer warmth, safety and sensitivity. Where appropriate, I incorporate creative approaches. Art, music, sand tray, drama, movement, play or creative writing may be used to work with deep issues such as loss, trauma, and other experiences which are beyond words.
Additionally, I have specialist training in the area of trauma and anxiety. Using 'common sense' methods taught by Babette Rothschild I begin by helping individuals to gain control over the physiological elements of trauma to establish stability. This enables the reduction of debilitating symptoms such as flash backs, panic attacks and trauma- related illness. In cases where it is considered necessary, we go on to process the emotional and psychological impact of the traumatic experience.
I am the author of 'Help! I've Got an Alarm Bell Going Off in my Head!' to be released on 21st November 2015 and published by Jessica Kingsely Publishers. (More details available on Amazon).
I have been working with clients of all ages (children, teens and adults) since 1998 in a variety of settings:
- private practice (Creative Counselling).
Creative Counselling offers individual therapy, supervision, workshops, retreats and creative groupwork (including Sesame sessions - drama/movement).
I currently also work part time in a school for children with Special Needs (Autism, Aspergers, Attachment issues), offering individual therapy to the students, as well as clinical supervision and training to staff.
