About me

Clients often seek counselling to help at times when they may need to resolve emotional, psychological or relationship issues. It can be difficult to talk to loved ones about their feelings and emotions. Counselling can be a positive way of addressing unresolved issues and useful in helping clients understand their own problems better. It can help people gain perspective of themselves and others and encourage self-awareness. By talking about and exploring your emotions and feelings it may help you come to your own conclusions bringing about positive changes and empowering you to take your next steps in life.

Having been trained and qualified as a Person-Centred Counsellor, I am passionate about providing a high-quality counselling service. I will work alongside you, in a confidential and non-judgemental manner, supporting you while making your own choices. I aim for you to feel truly heard and understood, enabling change and reducing internal conflict.

I am based in Marchwood, Southampton and offer local home visits or have a therapy room in Totton,  with easy access from the M27. I can also provide telephone or online counselling. I am happy for you to make an initial enquiry either by telephone or email and I always aim to respond to enquiries within 24 hours. I am happy to answer any questions and hopefully make you feel more comfortable with taking the first steps.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Additional information

Initial Assessment - £25 for 30 minutes

The initial assessment gives us the opportunity to 'meet', discuss the process and gain some knowledge and information about you and your reason behind seeking counselling.  I will explain the client contract and other relevant paperwork with you and make sure that you understand and are happy with the content.

This time also gives you the opportunity to ask any questions regarding the counselling process.  Most importantly we will find out if we feel comfortable working together.  I can offer short or long term work, depending on what is appropriate for you.
