Kathryn Harriss Adv Dip, MBACP (Accred), Certified Cyber Therapist
I run my private practice from my home in Horsham, offering a safe, comfortable & confidential space for clients to explore their feelings without judgement.
At the outset of the pandemic, I reluctantly moved to online therapy and what a surprise! It offers most of the benefits of face-to-face therapy plus more flexibility and convenience for the client. Less time is wasted travelling to your appointment and there are different types of online therapy to choose from: Zoom, email, instant messaging and phone, all having their own advantages. You can even switch between them, according to your needs.
Wanting to do things properly, I enrolled on an 80 hour training course run by The Online Therapy Institute to make sure that I am working to the highest standards possible in this new world. Having completed this, I am very excited to be able to offer this service with confidence.
As I also have an MA in Creative Writing & Personal Development from Sussex University, I can work creatively with all clients, young people and adults alike.
Free on-site parking.

I have an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling & Therapy (2015), a Diploma in Working with Children & Adolescents (2016), I have attended a CBT With Heart course (2018) and am now a Certified Cyber Therapist (2020). I also have an MA in Creative Writing and Personal Development (2010).

Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
Other areas of counselling I deal with
I also have an MA in Creative Writing for Personal Development and so am able to work with anyone who would like to explore their feelings through this medium. It can be very helpful to be able to be author of your own story, perhaps giving an account of something which is painful to talk about. Writing can offer the opportunity to witness an event from a safe distance and even more helpful when supported by a therapist.
