Kate Collin MBACP Dip. Couns
It takes a lot of courage to ask for help and the decision to seek psychotherapy can be a difficult one.
As a qualified person-centred counsellor I believe that we all have the ability to grow, develop and achieve our full potential under our own direction given the right conditions.
I believe that you are your own expert and therefore I will not be telling you what to do. We will both have an equal part to play within our therapeutic relationship. I will not influence you in any way, your counselling session is your time to talk about whatever it is that is important to you at that moment. Together we will look for ways for you to work through issues which may be affecting your life. It will be during our initial assessment that we will know if we are able to work together.
I am a fully registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and offer both short and long term therapy. I offer a counselling service in both Bishops Stortford and Epping and can also offer home visits following an initial assessment.
My Bishop's Stortford rooms are located at Water Lane Cottage for Counselling and Psychotherapy. Water Lane is an easily accessible location with nearby parking. The Agency offers a discreet, comfortable but friendly environment.
The Epping service is provided in discreet counselling rooms located in 'The Box', St John's Road, where there is parking nearby. Appointments at The Box would usually be offered from 4pm on weekdays or on Saturdays.
Please call me on 017951484805 or email me using the link to set up an initial session, where we can talk about what you want to get out of counselling. If you are happy to continue we will then set up a second session and arrange to meet on a weekly or fortnightly basis.
Sessions are for 50 minutes and cost £40.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified, registered Counsellor on the voluntary register which is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care.
I trained and qualified with the awarding body CPCAB in Person Centred Counselling and I believe that the most important aspect of counselling is the relationship between counsellor and client.
I have a further qualification with The Essex Ministry of Parenting which allows me to work with parents and families of children who self harm offering coping strategies and support.
I have over 30 years experience of working within the Metropolitan Police and alongside The National Health Service and Local Authorities.
I am experienced in dealing with a range of issues including relationship difficulties, anxiety and depression, sexual abuse, domestic violence, eating disorders, OCD, addictions, bereavement and loss, and general life difficulties. I have additional experience in working with people who have suffered a sudden and traumatic event in their lives and have been trained to assess those who are at risk from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
