I work in a psychodynamic and person centred way to support people who are finding life stressful and challenging. I help my clients to focus on and access mental, emotional and physical wellbeing. We work on accessing personal wholeness, and healthy relationships with family members, friends, work colleagues and community members.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) in private practice as an integrative (psychodynamic and person centred) psychotherapist.

I support people in addressing the following:

  • Lack of Motivation, Low Energy, Loss of Enjoyment in the Simple Pleasures of Life
  • Unhealthy or Disordered Lifestyle
  • Anger Management
  • Stress Relief
  • Difficult Relationships
  • Anxiety
  • Grief and Bereavement
  • Panic Attacks
  • Depression
  • Trauma (simple or complex)
  • Post Traumatic Stress (PTSD)
  • Gender orientation and/or sexual preference issues or questions
  • Unhealthy or Disordered alcohol use, drug use, eating, gambling, etc.

Training, qualifications & experience

I began the academic study and clinical training to become an integrative counsellor & psychotherapist in February 2003. The modality of my initial training was grounded in Carl Jung's psychodynamic, transpersonal approach to understanding human psychology. I starting working with training clients in late 2003 and have been in private practice as a counsellor & psychotherapist since I completed my course and qualified, in the autumn of 2005.

My Masters thesis is research based, a pilot study on the similarities and differences between mentoring and counselling teenagers in secondary schools in England. I have self-published my MA dissertation. You can find it on Amazon Kindle if you would like to purchase a copy. It is entitled 'Mentoring and Counselling Students in Secondary Education'.

I earned my MA in Psychotherapy from Middlesex University in February 2012.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I adhere to the BACP code of conduct. It is the foundation of my work.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information

After I receive an email from a prospective client, I offer a brief, initial phone call at no cost, so that we can discussed your concerns and whether we would feel comfortable to work together in an initial, in person or online, therapy session. During the phone call we would book the first therapy session, but there is no obligation to do more. At the first session, which is charged at my standard rate, we would look at how therapy can support you, at the possibility of doing more sessions, and how long we might work together.
