About me

I am an experienced, professionally qualified integrative counsellor. I offer a welcoming and a non judgemental, safe and confidential space to share, explore and understand your thoughts and feelings; whilst gaining an understanding of your inner world. I believe that everyone has the answers for their problems within themselves and that counselling is not about giving advice but about giving voice to your situation. With support you can understand, unravel and release problems; working them through to find a point of resolution or acceptance.

My style is integrative, this means that I combine different psychotherapeutic approaches in order to adapt to client individual needs. As each person and relationship is unique, I do not use a 'one-size-fits-all' approach, instead I tailor the way I work to the requirements and preferences of each individual. My work is influenced by psychodynamic theory; person centred theory, cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) and the attachment theory.

My specialist areas are in addictions including substance misuse and addictive behaviour(e.g gambling) along with anxiety and depression which has meant that I have dealt with complex and specialised case work loads in Windsor & Maidenhead Counselling Services, and I work as a mental health counsellor at Mind.

By providing support to people with a wide range of mental health issues from trauma, childhood sexual abuse to relationship issues and personality disorders has given me an understanding of the isolation and the deep hidden complex emotions felt, and confirmed how important it is to talk about them.

I am also a registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy, and all of my clinical work is governed by the BACP's Ethical Framework.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

When are sessions?

Counselling sessions are usually weekly. I offer both short-term and long-term work. I offer daytime, evening and weekend appointments and appointment time can be discussed when we meet. There is no set amount of sessions - the amount of sessions depends on your needs.

What should I expect?

After our initial telephone conversation, we can make an appointment to meet if that feels right. In our first session we can explore what has brought you to counselling and then you can decide whether you would like us to continue working together.

If you have more questions ...

Please feel free to telephone or email me.

I can answer any queries that you might have and discuss whether counselling might help.
