Katerina Flynn, MA, MBACP(Accred)
I am a committed, caring and highly qualified counsellor, accredited with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am passionate about helping people of all ages to help themselves reach their goals in life.
Throughout my career I have successfully worked both with Children and Young People as well as with Adults.
With all age groups I have dealt with issues such as Anxiety, Depression, Family relationships, Self-Harm, Suicide, Bereavement and Anger.
Counselling gives the client a chance to talk about what is bothering them to someone who is not a family member or a friend. Together we 'open up' and explore the issue and this helps the client understand things better. I help them to look at all the options available so that they feel able to make their own decision.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have over 3000 hours of counselling experience, gained in a wide variety of settings.
I am an Accredited and Registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and fully adhere to their Code of Ethics. I have an MA in Counselling Children and Young People from the University of Nottingham and a Diploma in Integrative Counselling.
In my current role as a University Counsellor, I work with students (undergraduate and postgraduate) as well as members of staff of the University.
I have worked for SafeSpeak (Oct'15-Feb'18) the young people's service offered by Relate in Derby, offering counselling support for children and young people aged 5 to 18.
From October 2015 to February 2018 I have been employed by Kooth Counselling (part of XenZone) working in Nottingham City (having worked as a volunteer for Kooth since June 2014). I have counselled a large number of young people aged 10 to 25 in schools and other community settings.
I have worked for Place2Be for two years, counselling and supporting children in a primary school in Nottingham (4 to 10 years old). For this age group I use Play Therapy as children communicate better when they play.
