Dr Kate Rose
You feel afraid all the time. No matter how hard you try you cannot seem to stop yourself worrying about everything.
At times you feel overwhelmed, other times you feel numb.
You never feel good enough. You feel you should be happy with the life you have but despite your best efforts you cannot seem to fill the empty feeling inside.
You feel guilty and ashamed.
You endured a difficult childhood and you feel it’s impact on you everyday.
You struggle in your relationships with others. You feel alone and disconnected.
It feels as though the same things keep happening in your relationships with others but you don’t know why or how to change this cycle.
You have experienced trauma or loss and are struggling to move beyond what happened.
You are in pain much of the time and are struggling to cope.
So often, the things we are struggling with in life, can be linked back to our early life experiences or difficult life events, which can have a huge impact on how we feel about ourselves, our relationships with others and our overall well being.
My goal is to help my clients understand and make sense of their past experiences and explore how their current difficulties may fit into this. I help them to learn new skills and break old patterns so that they can reclaim the life that they want.
I know how daunting it can be to seek help when you are struggling. Sometimes the idea of sharing your fears and distress and allowing yourself to be vulnerable can be terrifying. Maybe you have been thinking about seeing a therapist for a while but have yet to take that next step, unsure how to find the right person for you. Perhaps you have had therapy before but did not find the relief you were hoping for.
Things can be different.
It can be better.
Allow me to stand beside you and together we can find a way forward towards the life that you want.

Training, qualifications & experience
I’m a Senior Clinical Psychologist with over 14 years of experience working within the NHS, before moving into private practice. I have extensive training and experience in a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, which means that I can tailor therapy to your needs and preferences, rather than adopting a one size fits all approach.
The main approaches I use include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), and Psychodynamic Interpersonal Therapy (PIT).
I work with people who are experiencing psychological distress for a variety of reasons, people who want to understand where they are, why and how to move forward.
I specialise in working with trauma and interpersonal difficulties. Often people assume that for something to be a ‘trauma’ it has to be an extreme, life threatening event, which of course it can be, but it can also be the things we tend to minimise as ‘not that bad’, such as childhood emotional neglect, bullying at work, a difficult birth, an abusive relationship, a bereavement or loss. We often assume that other people have experienced worse and tell ourselves that we should be able to ‘just get over it’ or ‘move on’. This can leave us feeling ashamed and as though there must be something wrong with us when we continue to feel stuck. In reality, a trauma can be any experience that is particularly stressful, frightening or distressing and without the right support, it can have a lasting impact on your psychological wellbeing, your relationships with others and your ability to reclaim the life that you want.
Small steps can lead to big changes.
