About me

I am committed to providing counselling in a safe, confidential and non- judgemental environment. I aim to help each client to enhance their lives and their relationships by exploring what may be troubling them.

At some point in our lives we may need help to find our way through a difficult period or life event. If something is currently troubling you it can be helpful to share these worries in a safe setting outside of the family/friendship realm. Through listening and talking I hope to bring understanding and some relief from distress as we work together and you share your story with me.

I offer short term and long term therapy, to adults, in a comfortable room that is in a quiet setting. Once you have contacted me we can meet and have a chat about what may be troubling you. This first assessment session is £20. This will give us the opportunity to meet and see if we can work together. We can consider how often you would like to come and for how long. I would encourage weekly sessions as regular appointments will help us to get to know each other and progress with the counselling work.

If you would like to have a chat about your concerns and how counselling may be of help to you then please don't hesitate to call me or e mail me. I would aim to offer you a first appointment for the following week.

I am able to offer face to face sessions from my counselling room in Leicester Forest East.

Video sessions and telephone sessions are another way to access counselling. I am able to offer this too.  During this difficult social distancing period it may be a way to gain support.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a science degree in Social Psychology with Sociology from Loughborough University. My Post Graduate Diploma is in Psychodynamic Counselling from Leicester University.

Post qualifying I have worked in the voluntary sector at The Cares Centre, The Leicester Counselling Centre and The Laura Centre.

I have experience in a wide range of issues such as bereavement, loss and change. Relationship difficulites, childhood abuse, depression and anxiety, eating disorders and self harm.

I am a registered member of the BACP and I abide by the BACP Code of Ethics.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
