Dr. Kate Potter, Chartered Counselling Psychologist
585A Fulham Road
I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist specialising in shame-based issues, including:
- Childhood trauma
- Chronic self-doubt
- Low confidence
- Relationship and connection difficulties.
I run sessions at a practice in Fulham Broadway, which provides a welcoming and comfortable space for you to share your concerns in complete confidence. My approach is integrative, which means I draw from a number of different therapeutic approaches to inform my practice. These include, cognitive-behavioural therapy, mindfulness-based therapy and person-centred therapy.
The therapeutic relationship has been found to be the most important ingredient for successful therapeutic work. I therefore recommend we have a brief chat on the phone to discuss your hopes and expectations for therapy and to look into whether my approach is the most suitable.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a Chartered Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. I have experience working in both private and NHS settings, working therapeutically with individuals from all life stages as well as facilitating groups.
I specialise in alleviating symptoms related to shame and feelings of unworthiness that often stem from childhood trauma. Shame can generate strong fears of being rejected or not feeling good enough to enjoy healthy relationships and a fulfilling career. I work with clients to resolve their feelings of inadequacy through self-compassion and emotion-focused techniques as well as providing a safe space for the shame to be witnessed and ultimately released.
