About me

I established my company Time To Talk Counselling over 20 years ago and have a wealth of experience, helping in excess of 1000 people as a counsellor within the NHS and as a private therapist. I use an intergrated approach to my work including CBT where appropriate. I work on a one to one basis and am well respected in my field having achieved Senior Accreditation by the British Association Of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). I have lectured on counselling courses in Northampton, Kettering, Melton Mowbray and Rutland Colleges as well as being a Supervisor to other trained counsellors. In addition I write on mental health issues for a regional magazine.

My role as a counsellor is not to give advice, but to help clients explore their difficulties and recognise unhelpful patterns of behaviour that may be affecting the way they live their lives.

By providing a supportive, non-judgemental, confidential and safe environment, I aim to help people find their own solutions to their problems and make the necessary changes to enhance their lives.

I deliver counselling sessions from my purpose built therapy room in Langham, near Oakham in Rutland.

Training, qualifications & experience

I use an integrated approach to counselling and am trained in Person Centred Counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Transactional Analysis (TA).

I work with individuals and the type of therapy I use will be tailored to the needs of the client and the problem being presented.

I am accredited by the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.

I am a Lecturer in counselling and have worked at various colleges across the region.

I have full indemnity insurance.

I offer long and short term therapy.

I work from my own purpose built premises, providing a professional, high quality service.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

I always carry out an initial assessment session, so together we can ascertain whether we both feel counselling will be appropriate. At the end of the assessment we discuss the options available and will only book further sessions if we feel counselling will be of benefit.
